Walking where you live

If you are lucky, you live somewhere where walking is easy, where the streets are friendly to walkers, where you can easily walk to the important places in your life, where neighbourhoods are alive.  People often say that Halifax is a walkable city.  It certainly seems so to me – at least for downtown Halifax and Dartmouth.  What does that mean really?  Well, ideas vary.

There is lots of dialogue around “walkability” as it relates to community.  Jane’s Walk is a great place to find references to walking and walkability.  In particular if you are a facebook user, like their facebook page for regular links to interesting walking related material.  For example there was a link to this article at project for public spaces.
