Second Lake – fall colours

Fall colours are here.  It was a fine day Sunday for a walk along the trail at Second Lake in Bedford, Nova Scotia.    I began my walk on a well beaten path into the woods from an empty parking lot.  This path eventually joined the crushed gravel path near a full parking lot.  The woods were lovely with yellow-gold, brown and red leaves on the trees and on the ground.

There had been lots of rain for several days previously so that every so often there were leaf strewn puddles across the path.    Later on the path a stand of hemlocks, old and young, sheltered the slope towards the lake.  The rain brings out the mushrooms and…

…Jelly fungi are pretty cool…

This trail is located in a regional park in HRM.  A local park association has lots of information to share (their website is currently undergoing a refresh but still accessible).  My map  situates one of the possible parking lots.
