With ice and snow still covering many of the trails in the area today we set out for a popular walking spot – Haul Rd. This dirt road is a steep climb for a short way up North Mountain. It’s a popular spot with walkers in the Annapolis Royal area. It was a great choice today, no vehicles had yet been down/up the road and only a few people were out walking ahead of us, but none that we ran into. And No Ice!
The view from the road, after you have walked for half an hour, looking south to the Annapolis River is great. One of the landowners along the road is keeping the trees and brush cut so you have a clear view to the valley bottom and the River. The walk itself is not long because the road is gated part way up – it leads onto private property. It is a short virgorous walk and perfect if you have limited time or want to avoid the ice.
