A friend called with an invitation – “Let’s go for a walk”. She had a mission: put up posters. So our route was set by the poster drop off points. Off we went, across the causeway – the causeway between Annapolis Royal and Granville Ferry. Hardly a walk through idylic nature, but definitely a way to see the Annapolis River up close. On a blowy day such as we had, you feel as if you are right there in the elements – blowing away with leaves, whitecaps and gulls.
Walking from downtown Annapolis Royal across the causeway and back will take upwards of an hour. This walk is mostly on sidewalks but some is on the shoulder of the road. You’ll pass the tidal power station and the gates that stop the water. If you’re lucky the gates will have just risen and you’ll see torrents of water rushing across the man made channel.
